Apricorn lanza HD externo, con encriptación de datos por hardware

Written by Cristian Wednesday 27 October 2010.

Apricorn today expanded the Aegis Padlock family of secure portable hard drives with the release of two high-capacity models providing 750GB in storage space. The difference between the two comes from the protection level offered, one has AES 128-bit hardware encryption while the other 256-bit.

The new drives measure 19 x 84.5 x 120 mm, and have 8MB of buffer memory, a USB 2.0 interface, a 16-point omni-directional shock mounting system, a wear resistant keypad for entering the user-set PIN code, and the Brute Force Self Destruct feature which destroys the encryption key and locks the drive when systematically attacked.

The AES-128 750GB Aegis Padlock costs $179, while the AES-256 version goes for $199. Both are backed by a three-year warranty.
