Excelente Animación Stop Motion, con Light Painting

Que sale de combinar exposiciones largas, luces, stencils, y un largo proceso de edición para unir las fotos resultantes? Bueno, si tienen buen gústo, talento y mucho tiempo para llevarlo a cabo, tal vez, puedan hacer algo así…

 

If life is a catwalk, run like a dog.

'Nowhere Near Here' is a stop motion animation that uses a combination of light with stencils and long exposure photography to tell the story of a dog running around the city at night, doing whatever a dog does. The animation was first exhibited at the The Herbert, in Coventry, on the 7th October 2010.
With well over 300 hours in the making, more than 200 stencils involved and too many cold nights spent outside on my knees getting the shots, I am very happy (and relieved) to finally share this with you. Through the course of shooting 'Nowhere Near Here', I have dealt with curious drunks, a dog almost peeing on the camera (the irony is not lost on me, haha), the endlessly suspicious police and even someone nearly running off with a tripod.
This is street art, this is life and thank you for watching.

“Spider-Man 3D” se suma al carro de la Red Epic

Definitivamente la nueva cámara de Red, la Epic, ha entrado en la cinematografía americana por la puerta grande, y si no cambian mucho las cosas, en pocos años puede convertirse en el stardard dentro de los rodajes en tres dimensiones.

Si hace unos días os contábamos que Peter Jackson sería el primero en estrenar una Epic en un rodaje de Hollywood, parece ser que se le han adelantado. El próximo lunes, Marc Webb comienza el rodaje de su“Spider-Man”, y lo hará con cuatro cámaras Red Epic. Así lo ha desvelado John Schwartzman, director de fotografía del film de Webb en los foros de la página de Red. El hombre parece entusiasmado con las pruebas que ha realizado:

“Hoy hemos rodado en 3D con cuatro Epics montadas en dos rigs 3ality TS-5, hemos hecho 22 planos, incluyendo algunos de alta velocidad y las imágenes son impresionantes […] Por primera vez en el cine digital, un pequeño tamaño no conlleva una pérdida de resolución, de hecho no hay una cámara de mayor resolución que ésta salvo las de IMAX, pero las Epic pesan sólo 5 libras (2,3 kg) con un objetivo Ultra Prime puesto; de repente, el 3D no es una bestia de 100 libras (45,4 kg)”

Está claro que en Red han hecho bien los deberes. Su cámara es el sueño de todo operador, principalmente de los que trabajan en tres dimensiones. Su reducido peso y tamaño la hacen ideal para montarlas en rigs 3D. Lo curioso (al menos para mí) es que pese a que, en teoría, su tamaño lo permitiría, Schwartzman no haya montado la Epic en un rig Side by Side, sino en uno Beamsplitter, que le obliga a la utilización de un espejo para obtener las imágenes estereoscópicas. Se supone que los rigs side by side son bastante más cómodos y operativos, pues además no necesitan corrección de diafragma en ninguna de las cámaras. Supongo que con el tiempo averiguaremos los motivos, aunque me da a mi que tiene algo que ver con el diámetro de las ópticas usadas.

Lo que está claro es que la Epic ha llegado para quedarse en el mundo de las 3D. Sus números son de miedo:

• Resolución de 5K (5120 x 2700, el equivalente a 13,8 Megapíxeles).
• Rango dinámico de 13,5 stops (puntos de diafragma) lo que permitiría fácilmente hacer video HDR.
• Sensibilidad ISO variable de 200 a 12800.
• Velocidad variable hasta 120 fps en 5K y 225 fps en 2K.
• Tecnología de sincronización con otra cámara para rodar en 3D.

Si a todo esto sumamos que Red promete que la cámara será fácilmente ampliable y modulable, puede que estemos hablando del standard en los próximos años, al menos en el mundo de las 3D.
